January 23, 2018 – Lyceum of the Philippines in Intramuros Manila hosted Experience USA: Youth Leadership Forum and Opportunities Caravan. Together with the US Exchange Alumni and Philippine-American Exchange Foundation (PAEF), 300 LPU students and young professionals learn more about youth leadership and opportunities in the U.S. Julienne Joven, YSEALI alumna, started the day talking about Fennel’s contribution to civic engagement and her experience as an exchange student in the University of Nebraska in Omaha in 2015. Mr. Elmerei Cuevas, Founder of Diligence Café, talked about his YSEALI engagements throughout different ASEAN countries. Ms. Therese Fely Enriquez, LPU’s very own, shared her Global Ugrad experience in the US and how youth involvement can make a change. An open forum was ran in the first half of the event. The students were given a change to ask questions to panel discussants. The second half of the event introduced Young Southeast Leaders Initiative (YSEALI). Ms. Jarrah Brillantes, Chair of US Government Alumni Association in Panay & Guimaras, introduced YSEALI opportunities available and its impact since its birth in 2013. Leanne Malicdem, Junior Program Officer of PAEF, provided a background and open scholarships on Fullbright Scholarships. The day was capped by an Education USA presentation from Rogie Nichole Aquino, former Cultural Affairs Intern at the US Embassy in Manila.
